A former Rutgers recruit, Glenn Carson, a linebacker and wrestler from Southern Regional High School in Mannahawkin, was charged with DUI. The four star prospect drew interest from the Knights before committing to Penn State. The public drunkenness and underage drinking charges came in connection with a July 25th incident, according to Penn State police, and is just the latest in a string of incidents that have tainted Joe Paterno's once highly regarded program.

As expected, Penn State recruit Kevin Haplea (TE) of Hunterdon North HS in Annadale, NJ committed to the Nittany Lions on Monday according to reports by ESPN. Haplea is the 14th PSU pledge of the 2010 class which is ranked 6th in the nation according to Also, during Big Ten Media Day on Monday, Joe Paterno reported that the playing status of potential defensive starters Abe Koroma (CB) and A.J. Wallace (DL) as questionable for the upcoming season. According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Paterno said that both had cleared out their lockers and are unlikely to return to the team this year due to off the field personnel issues. This latest news comes on the heals of the dismissal of back-up wide receiver James McDonald last week due to drunken driven charges.

Maikon Bonani was expected to be released from St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa following a 35 foot fall taken from the Busch Garden SkyRide last Saturday. According to St. Petersburg Times, Bonani's cracked vertebra will not require surgery but will require the kicker to wear a back brace over the next 6-8 weeks which leaves open the possibility of a return to the Bulls at some point duirng the upcoming season.

QB from SC makes it Eight for the Class of 2010

And the State of Rutgers continues to expand as Chas Dodd (QB) of Byrnes High School (Duncan, SC) adds his pledge to the Rutgers Recruiting Class of 2010. The 6'1" gun-slinger from one of the top HS programs in the country confirmed his commitment on Monday according to Keith Sargent of the Courier News. As a second team All-State selection this past season, Dodd passed for nearly 2,400 yards and 18 touchdowns in a spread offense scheme that passed nearly 70% of the time during the season. Both Dodd and Marcus Lattimore the # 1 ranked RB in the nation for the Class of 2010 according to made an unofficial visit to the Banks this past weekend.

RU to Play Army at Yankee Stadium in 2011

According to as well as ESPN, Rutgers is slated to play the Army Black Knights at Yankee Stadium in 2011. A press conference has been scheduled for Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. The Rutgers-Army series began in 1891 when the Scarlet Knights defeated the Black Knights at West Point 27-6. Based on the current order of home games in series, it appears the 2011 game will count as a home game for Army.
